MUCS Vince Yanovitch

Master Chief Musician Vince Yanovich takes over as the seventh Master Chief of the United States Coast Guard Band in July 2018. Joining the Band in 1991, MUCM Yanovich earned a bachelor’s degree from The Juilliard School, and attended Rice University for his graduate studies. Prior to joining the band, Vince performed in groups such as the Aspen Festival Orchestra, AIMS Festival Orchestra in Graz, Austria, the Juilliard Orchestra, the Houston Symphony, and the Houston Ballet Orchestra. His principal teachers include Per Brevig, Joseph Alessi, and David Waters. Throughout his Coast Guard Band career, MUCM Yanovich has participated in many of the Band’s important performances nationally and internationally, including tours of England, Japan and Taiwan, as well as numerous concerts across the United States. He has performed in the inaugurations of four presidents and the state funerals of Presidents Ford and Reagan. As part of the Band’s self-supporting administrative team, MUCM’s leadership duties have allowed him to oversee the Load Crews, Scheduling and Operations Department. He and his violinist wife Heather have nine children and reside in Griswold, Connecticut.
