MUCS Joe D'Aleo
Senior Chief Musician Joe D’Aleo has served as the tenor saxophonist for the United States Coast Guard Band since 2013. His performances have taken him across the country for numerous high-profile events, including the International Midwest Clinic, the International Navy Band Saxophone Symposium, presidential inaugurations, and other service-wide ceremonies. Beyond his musical duties, he has progressed through roles within the Band’s Finance and Supply Shop and the Tours Department to his current position as Production Shop Lead. He has been mentored by esteemed musicians such as Carrie Koffman, Donald Sinta, and retired US Navy Band Master Chief Dale Underwood.
Beyond his musical career, Senior Chief D’Aleo is a highly accomplished competitive marksman. As an active member of the USCG Marksmanship Team, he has earned the prestigious President’s 100 Pistol Award four times (2018, 2019, 2023, and 2025). His numerous accolades include being named the 2022 All Navy and Pacific Fleet Rifle and Pistol Grand Aggregate Champion and runner-up for Coast Guard Athlete of the Year. Senior Chief D’Aleo’s competitive success continued in 2024, when he and the USCG Marksmanship Team earned third place at the Interservice Pistol Championships in Fort Benning, GA. In 2025, he partnered with his shipmate, Chief Petrotto, to win the 1st Place 2-Man Team Title at the National Pistol Matches. As the 23rd Coast Guardsman in history to be awarded both the USCG Distinguished Pistol Shot and Distinguished Marksmanship badges, he stands among the elite in his field.
Senior Chief resides in West Hartford, CT with his wife, Charlotte, and their two kids, Crosby and Hattie.
