MUC Tyler Wilkins

Chief Musician Tyler Wilkins joined the United States Coast Guard Band in December 2015. A native of Erlanger, Kentucky, his primary instruments are the bassoon and contraforte, and he also performs on jazz saxophone and other auxiliary instruments.
MUC Wilkins holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Eastern Kentucky University, as well as a Master of Music degree and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. His primary bassoon teachers have included Elizabeth Young Rennick, Martin James, and William Winstead.
In addition to his duties with the Coast Guard Band, MUC Wilkins can be found performing in various orchestras and jazz ensembles in the tri-state area. He resides in southeast Connecticut with his wife and their six children and enjoys woodworking at home.
