The CG Trademark and Licensing Program is not currently accepting any new applications for licensure.  We plan to make an announcement in the coming months to update the status and to indicate when licensure will resume.  Any changes to the program will also be noted then.

Welcome to the Trademark and Licensing Program!

The United States Coast Guard Trademark and Patent Licensing Program was established to register, regulate and protect the U.S. Coast Guard’s trademarks. Our goal is to enhance the Coast Guard brand and promote service recruiting efforts by licensing high quality merchandise while guarding against unauthorized use and resolving cases involving infringements.

The U.S. Coast Guard requires all individuals, hobbyists, corporations and organizations to obtain prior approval before producing any product(s) that will display Coast Guard trademarks.

The U.S. Coast Guard's mark, emblem, and name are protected by federal law 14 USC 639. Approval before commercial use is required. The use of Coast Guard protected words and symbols for commercial purposes is prohibited unless the producer completes a licensing agreement with the U.S. Coast Guard.

Coast Guard policy and federal law prohibits anyone from falsely representing that any project, business, product or service is in anyway endorsed, authorized or approved by the Coast Guard.
