Personnel Bio

MU1 Steven Zhang

Originally from Vernon Hills, Illinois, Musician 1st Class Steven Zhang joined the Coast Guard Band in January 2019. In addition to his duties with the band, he regularly performs with the Rhode Island Philharmonic. MU1 Zhang holds a Bachelor of Music from Northwestern in June 2019, where he studied with Steve Cohen and J. Lawrie Bloom. He was a winner in the Northwestern Concerto/Aria Competition in 2018 and performed the Corigliano Clarinet Concerto with the Northwestern Symphony Orchestra in 2019.
