CGJROTC Instructor Eligibility


Commissioned Officers Non-Commissioned Officers*
  • Must be a Retiree, Veteran, or Active Reservist
  • Serve as Senior Maritime Science Instructors
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher required (4-year degree in any field)
  • Background in Training & Education preferred
  • Must be a Retiree, Veteran, or Active Reservist
  • Serve as Maritime Science Instructors
  • Associate degree or higher preferred**
  • Background in Training & Education preferred
Veterans & Retirees* Reserve Members*

Have completed at least 8 years of service in the Coast Guard
AND
Have received an honorable discharge not longer than 5 years before applying for such employment
AND
Obtain a CGJROTC Instructor Certification

Have completed at least 8 years of service in the Coast Guard
AND
Be currently serving in the SELRES or IRR OR
Fall under one of the Veteran/Retiree Categories OR
Have completed at least 4 years of service in the CG & 4 years as a secondary education teacher
AND
Obtain a CGJROTC Instructor Certification

*Some requirements may be waiverable or attainable
**Must obtain associate degree within five (5) years of initial employment
