CGJROTC Instructor Certification

All individuals who are interested being a Coast Guard JROTC Instructor are encouraged to pursue Navy JROTC Instructor Certification first. Details on that process are available at https://www.netc.navy.mil/Commands/Naval-Service-Training-Command/NJROTC/Instructor-Application-Process/

Since the Navy has many more JROTC units and instructor vacancies than the Coast Guard, the Navy JROTC Instructor Certification will not only increase the likelihood of securing a position as a JROTC instructor (Coast Guard members are eligible to teach in Navy JROTC), it will also expedite the process of being certified by the Coast Guard for a CGJROTC Instructor Position.

Individuals desiring to apply for a Coast Guard JROTC Instructor position who have not been previously certified by the Navy must email the Coast Guard JROTC Program manager at CGJROTC@uscg.mil to initiate the instructor certification process.

The Coast Guard also requires all new CGJROTC instructors to attend the Navy’s New Instructor Orientation Training (NIOT), which is usually completed the summer before the instructor’s first school year.
