MUCM Jonathan Towne

Master Chief Musician Jonathan Towne, clarinet, won the Artist International Competition in New York City with the Kammer Woodwind Quintet and as a result performed two recitals in Carnegie’s Weill Recital Hall. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Ithaca College and a Master of Music degree from Indiana University, where he was an associate instructor of clarinet and a student of James Campbell. He has played in the Bronx Symphony Orchestra, the Owensboro and Columbus Symphony Orchestras in Indiana, and in the Amato Opera Company in New York City. Presently he plays principal clarinet in the Connecticut Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra and second clarinet in the Eastern Connecticut Symphony. For nine years he was on the music faculty at the University of Rhode Island. MUCM Towne is also the Coast Guard Band’s Drum Major and has led the Band in three Presidential Inaugural Parades in Washington, D.C.
