MUCS Mark McCormick

Senior Chief Musician Mark McCormick, contrabass, received both his Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees from the Manhattan School of Music. He has performed at the Spoleto Festival USA, the Waterloo Festival in Princeton, New Jersey and the Texas International Double Bass Symposium. In New York City he has appeared at Avery Fisher Hall, Alice Tully Hall, Carnegie Hall, Carnegie’s Weill Recital Hall and Merkin Hall with the Manhattan Chamber Orchestra, the Prism Chamber Orchestra, Orchestra New England, the Manhattan Philharmonic and the Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra. MUCS McCormick has recorded on the Vox, Bridge, Newport Classic and KOCH International labels. A recording of the music of Alan Hovhaness, in which he performed as principal bassist, was voted most popular classical album for 1995 in Great Britain, as well as being nominated for a Grammy Award in the United States. MUCS McCormick joined the United States Coast Guard Band in 1997.
