MUC Nathan Lassell
MU1 Nathan Lassell

Prior to joining the Coast Guard Band in May 2009, Chief Musician Nathan Lassell, percussion, received a Bachelor of Music degree from George Mason University and a Master of Music degree from Rice University. A native of Arlington, Virginia, he has been an active freelancer in the Washington, D.C. area, performing at the Kennedy Center and for radio and television broadcasts as timpanist/percussionist with the National Cathedral Choirs. While still in high school he appeared as a soloist with the U.S. Air Force Band as the George S. Howard Young Artist Competition winner. MUC Lassell has performed with the Nashville, Knoxville, Huntsville, San Antonio, and New World Symphonies, among others. In 2005 he was a fellow at the Tanglewood Music Center and was twice a member of the National Orchestral Institute.
