MU1 Taylor Isberg

A native of both Maryland and Illinois, Musician 1st Class Taylor Isberg joined the Coast Guard Band in March 2023. She made her professional debut in January 2019, when she performed several concerts with the London Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Sir Simon Rattle, as one of twelve Music Academy Festival musicians selected by audition to participate in the Keston MAX Fellow program. She has also performed with ensembles including the New Bedford Symphony, Phoenix, and The Orchestra Now. In 2018, MU1 Isberg attended the Music Academy of the West, where she performed with the Academy Festival Orchestra under the direction of several world-renowned orchestral conductors, including Gustavo Dudamel, Stéphane Denève, and Elim Chan. Previously, she attended the Brevard Music Center Summer Festival and the Hot Springs Music Festival, where she won first prize in their chamber music competition. Outside of performing, MU1 Isberg is an active educator, and has previously taught lessons at music programs in the Houston and Boston areas.

In 2017, MU1 Isberg received a Bachelor of Music in Clarinet Performance as a Stamps Scholar from the University of Michigan, where she studied with Daniel Gilbert. She returned to the University of Michigan for her graduate studies, where she studied with Daniel Gilbert and Chad Burrow, earning her first Master of Music degree in 2019. MU1 Isberg then pursued additional studies at Rice University, earning a second Master of Music degree under the tutelage of Richie Hawley. She graduated from Rice in spring 2022.
