Personnel Bio

MU1 Leah Bedard

Musician 1st Class Leah Bedard, oboe, joined the United States Coast Guard Band in February 2016. She earned a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Georgia and her Master of Music degree at Rice University's Shepherd School of Music, where she was a recipient of the Dorothy and Mickey Ables Prize, a full-tuition scholarship. She has performed with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, Charleston Symphony Orchestra, and Houston Symphony. She has been a fellow of the Texas Music Festival, principal oboe of the Ohio Light Opera, and principal oboe of the Franco-American Vocal Academy Opera in Paris, France. Her teachers were Robert Atherholt and Reid Messich.
