Personnel Bio

MU1 Steven Zhang

Originally from Vernon Hills, Illinois, Musician 1st Class Steven Zhang joined the Coast Guard Band in February 2019. He will be receiving a Bachelor of Music degree from Northwestern in June 2019, where he studied with Steve Cohen and J. Lawrie Bloom. He was a winner in the Northwestern Concerto/Aria Competition in 2018 and performed the Corigliano Clarinet Concerto with the Northwestern Symphony Orchestra in April 2019. He attended the Pacific Regional Summer Music Academy in 2017 and the Aspen Music Festival in 2018.
