Personnel Bio

MUC Laura Pirruccello
MU1 Laura PirruccelloChief Musician Laura Rakel Pirruccello, piccolo, from Universal City, Texas, joined the Coast Guard Band in October 2007. MUC Pirruccello received two Bachelor of Music degrees in both music education and flute performance from the University of North Texas. While attending North Texas, MUC Pirruccello was awarded golf, music, and academic scholarships. Furthering her education, she received a Master of Music degree in flute performance on scholarship from the Manhattan School of Music.

As a member of the band, MUC Pirruccello has shared the stage with the New York Philharmonic at Avery Fisher Hall in New York City and music legends such as Beyonce, U2, Bruce Springsteen, Ingrid Michaelson, Queen Latifah, and many others. Laura also performs in various orchestras in the New England area.

A competitive flutist and piccoloist, MUC Pirruccello was a prize winner in national and international competitions, including the Myrna Brown, Frank Bowen, NFA Piccolo Young Artist, Sorantin International, Music Teachers National Association, and the Entergy Young Texas Artist Music competitions. She also participated in the National Orchestral Institute in Maryland. Her teachers include Linda Chesis, Mary Karen Clardy, Stephanie Mortimore, and Anna Henry. When not representing the Coast Guard Band, Laura enjoys volunteering and spending time with her husband and two children.
