MU1 Justin Ruleman

Musician First Class Justin Ruleman joined the United States Coast Guard Band in December 2019 and has since been appointed Principal Horn in October 2023. 

Beyond his duties with the Coast Guard Band, Justin maintains an active presence in the region's orchestral community, performing regularly with Hartford Symphony Orchestra and Eastern Connecticut Symphony Orchestra. He is also passionate about education, maintaining a private studio and giving masterclasses at collegiate institutions like Hartt School of Music and the Yale School of Music. 

Justin holds a Bachelor of Music from Texas Tech University and a Master of Music from Northwestern University. His musical education was shaped by a distinguished group of teachers - Scott Strong, Christopher Smith, Jon Boen, and Gail Williams.
