MU1 Robert Langslet
Musician 1st Class Robert Langslet is the pianist for both the U.S. Coast Guard Band and the U.S. Coast Guard Dixieland Jazz Band. Prior to his appointment, he lived and worked in the greater New York area, performing in a wide variety of venues including the Blue Note Jazz Club, Carnegie Hall, and the Morgan Library. In December 2012 he received the honor of serving as the keynote performer for the British Academy of Film and Television Arts Holiday Gala at the British Consulate-General of New York. MU1 Langslet has performed with a diverse array of artists, including Rich Perry, Candido Pomero, Francisco Mela, five-time Grammy nominee Bobby Sanabria, and the Oregon Symphony.
A gifted arranger, MU1 Langslet’s compositions and arrangements have been performed in a variety of settings. In April 2012 his original arrangement of the Bill Evans composition Nardis was selected by the two-time Grammy nominated Manhattan School of Music Afro-Cuban Jazz Orchestra to be performed at Lincoln Center.
MU1 Langslet received his Master of Music degree from The Manhattan School of Music, magna cum laude, and his Bachelor of Music degree from William Paterson University, summa cum laude. He hails from Portland, Oregon, and joined the U.S. Coast Guard Band in June 2012.
