Commander Adam Williamson conducts the Band in an epic program celebrating great American
accomplishment and hope for the new year. Anchoring the program is Aaron Copland’s “The
Promise of Living” from his two-act opera about the American Midwest The Tender Land, which is
preceded by Copland’s “Lincoln Portrait” with special guest narrator Anthony Nolan, member of the
Connecticut House of Representatives for the 39th District.

Also on the program will be Samuel Coleridge-Taylor’s “Othello Suite,” Florence Price’s “Adoration,”
Elaine M. Ross’s “My Voice,” and, among others, Duke Ellington’s “Come Sunday,” featuring alto
saxophone soloist Musician 1st Class Tyler Wilkins.
