Join us for a Memorial Day weekend concert to begin the summer season!
The United States Coast Guard Band presents a concert at Fort Trumbull State Park located at 90
Walbach Street in New London, Connecticut. This concert is free and open to the public, and no
tickets or reservations are required. The rain date for the concert is Monday, May 30 at 4:00 p.m.
Assistant Director Chief Warrant Officer Jeffrey Spenner conducts a special Memorial Day program
featuring concert band favorites both old and new. American composer J. Scott McKenzie’s exciting
new work “Some Assembly Required” opens the concert in celebration of the world’s ongoing
efforts to emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic. All ages will be thrilled with John Powell’s suite
from the movie “How to Train Your Dragon,” and composer James Stephenson’s “TAPS” brings
stirring recognition of Memorial Day’s purpose. Other concert selections include works Morton
Gould, Elena Specht, Ralph Vaughan Williams, and John Philip Sousa.
