Many boating safety courses are offered throughout the country for recreational boaters of all ages and experience levels. Qualified volunteer organizations such as the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, United States Power Squadrons, and others sponsor many courses. State boating agencies also provide classes nationwide.

Courses cover a wide range of boating safety topics, from basic boat handling and weather awareness to electronic navigation skills. Offerings range from youth focused programs to advanced instruction for experienced boaters. Many boating safety courses are offered throughout the country and vary by state approval for recreational boaters of all ages and experience levels.

Providers offering a course meeting the American National Standard for Basic Boating Knowledge or American National Standard On-Water Boating Skills may request to be added to the list by submitting a request to RBSinfo@uscg.mil

American Canoe Association

Provides resources for paddling skills courses, safety and rescue training, and instructor certification for canoeing, kayaking, rafting, and adaptive paddling.
