These actions represent the early stages of an enduring effort to ensure a workplace culture intolerant of sexual assault, sexual harassment, and other harmful behaviors.
The Service has completed 18 of 33 of these actions so far and will continue to invest in prevention, victim support, and accountability.
Their testimony affirms the urgency and importance of the Coast Guard’s actions directed by the Commandant after the Accountability and Transparency Review in July of 2023.
Their experiences are helping us to shape policies and actions to prevent sexual misconduct and ensure effective victim support and accountability.

Our progress in completing 18 of these directed actions so far represents the early stages of enduring change that will ensure every person in the Coast Guard experiences a safe work environment where they are respected and valued.
The Coast Guard acknowledges that this is not only a problem of the past, and we are actively implementing the Commandant’s 33 directed actions announced in November 2023 to strengthen our service culture, improve support and care of victims, and hold perpetrators accountable.
