Blanca Sanchez serves as the Assistant Commandant for Workforce and Family Services (CG-WFS), assigned to the Office of the Deputy Commandant for Personnel at United States Coast Guard Headquarters in Washington, D.C.
As Assistant Commandant, Ms. Sanchez provides executive leadership for workforce and family support programs serving more than 180,000 military and civilian personnel, Auxiliarists, dependents, and survivors. She directs Coast Guard-wide policy, strategic planning, resource management, and program oversight across Workforce and Family Services, including wellness programs, family support services, sexual assault prevention, response and recovery, integrated primary prevention, workplace harassment prevention and adjudication, substance misuse prevention, employee assistance programs, suicide prevention initiatives, and other workforce readiness programs essential to mission execution.
Ms. Sanchez has more than three decades of Federal service and extensive executive leadership experience across the Department of Homeland Security. Throughout her career, she has led complex human capital, workforce transformation, organizational effectiveness, and strategic planning initiatives supporting thousands of employees across multiple DHS components.
Prior to her current assignment, Ms. Sanchez served as Director of Civilian Human Resources, Diversity, and Leadership for the United States Coast Guard. She also served in senior leadership roles supporting the Department of Homeland Security Presidential Transition Office, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and the Department’s Office of the Chief Readiness Support Officer, where she provided executive leadership on workforce operations, strategic workforce planning, organizational modernization, executive resources management, and enterprise human capital initiatives.
Throughout her career, Ms. Sanchez has been recognized for building high-performing teams, developing collaborative partnerships, and advancing innovative workforce solutions that strengthen organizational performance, employee engagement, and mission readiness.
Ms. Sanchez holds advanced degrees in Human Resources Management and Organizational Psychology and Development, and a Bachelor in Marketing.
