Master Chief Evan C. Burch assumed duties as Command Master Chief, U.S. Coast Guard Deputy Commandant for Systems in June 2026. In this role, he serves as the principal advisor to the Deputy Commandant on all enlisted personnel matters.
Most recently Master Chief Burch served as the Command Master Chief of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in New London, Connecticut. Master Chief Burch’s previous assignments include the Ceremonial Honor Guard in Alexandria, Virginia; Group/Air Station Corpus Christi, Texas; Telecommunications Specialist “A” School in Petaluma, California; Communications Area Master Station Pacific (CAMSPAC) Point Reyes Station, California; CGC Walnut in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003; CGC Sherman homeported in Alameda, California; National Security Cutter C4ISR School Training Center in Petaluma, California; Vessel Traffic Center Sector New York; District 17 Command Center in Juneau, Alaska; CGC Stratton homeported in Alameda, California; Command Senior Chief USCG Base Los Angeles/Long Beach in San Pedro, California; and Command Master Chief Patrol Forces Southwest Asia (PATFORSWA) in Manama, Bahrain.
Master Chief Burch is a proud graduate of the Chief Petty Officer Academy Class 192, Coast Guard Senior Enlisted Command Master Chief Course, Coast Guard Senior Enlisted Leadership Course (Class 60), and both Phase I and II of the Senior Enlisted Joint Professional Military Education Course.
Master Chief Burch was born in Little Rock, Arkansas, and raised in Glen, New York. He enlisted in the Coast Guard in January 1995 and graduated from Coast Guard Boot Camp in March 1995. Master Chief Burch’s most recent military decorations include two Meritorious Service Medals, three Coast Guard Commendation Medals, the Coast Guard Achievement Medal, the Iraqi Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, and other personal and service awards.
