Command Master Chief Justin Knudsen

Command Master Chief Justin Knudsen assumed the duties of Reserve Command Master Chief for Atlantic Area on June, 28th 2022.  As the reserve command senior enlisted leader for LANTAREA, Master Chief Knudsen advises the Area Commander on all matters pertaining to efficient and effective management of the reserve component for over 3,200 reservists.

Master Chief Knudsen is a native of Staten Island, NY where he currently resides with this wife Elisabeth, and two children, Grace and JJ.  His previous assignments include; First District Reserve Command Master Chief, Sector New York Reserve Command Master Chief, Reserve Training Petty Officer at Station New York, Senior Enlisted Reserve Advisor at Station Sandy Hook, Sector New York Enforcement Division, USCGC Hawser, and USCGC Adak.

He is a 2010 graduate of the Coast Guard Chief Petty Officer’s Academy and a 2012 graduate of the Coast Guard Senior Enlisted Leadership Course.  He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Wagner College and a USCG 100 Ton Masters License.  In Master Chief Knudsen’s civilian career, he is a Captain with the New York City Police Department currently assigned as the Executive Officer of the 94th Precinct in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.

Master Chief Knudsen’s personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Coast Guard Commendation Medal, September 11th Medal, two Coast Guard Achievement Medals, two Commandant’s Letters of Commendation ribbons, and various other service and unit awards. He has earned the permanent Coxswain and Advanced Boat Forces Insignia.
