Adm. Linda Fagan, Coast Guard Commandant, has released the Coast Guard’s updated Equal Opportunity (EO) and Anti-Discrimination and Anti-Harassment (ADAH) Policy Statements, reaffirming the Service’s commitment to an equitable, respectful, and inclusive workplace.
The EO policy sets clear expectations for the fair treatment of all employees and applicants, and promotes accountability in recruiting, training, and supporting a diverse workforce. The updated EO policy statement now includes provisions to accommodate employees' known limitations related to pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions, in alignment with the recent Pregnant Workers Fairness Act.
The ADAH policy underscores the Coast Guard’s core values of Honor, Respect, and Devotion to Duty, and sets expectations and standards regarding respectful conduct in the workplace. It also calls on the total workforce to speak out when witnessing behaviors inconsistent with these values. Unlawful harassment undermines readiness and must be promptly reported.
Through these policy statements, Adm. Fagan calls on the workforce to foster a positive workplace culture that enhances mission success and employee well-being, emphasizing trust and support for all team members.
All personnel are encouraged to review these policies themselves to uphold the Coast Guard’s commitment to dignity and respect.
