Rear Admiral Jung is currently the Assistant Commandant for Health, Safety, and Work-Life, which provides health care to active duty and reserve members in support of Coast Guard missions, ensuring medical and dental readiness of all Coast Guard Members. RADM Jung previously served as Director of the Division of Medicine & Dentistry in the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) where he oversaw more than $1 billion in appropriations for medical and dental training, primarily to prepare providers for practice in high-need areas.

Prior to HRSA, he supported the Indian Health Service as their Director for Health Professional Support & Workforce Development, addressing the healthcare needs of American Indian and Alaska Native communities across the U.S. From 2014-2017, RADM Jung served as Associate Director of Peace Corps, responsible for the health of nearly 7,000 Volunteers in more than 65 countries. RADM Jung led the Commissioned Corps of the U.S. Public Health Service as Deputy Director and Acting Director of Commissioned Corps Headquarters and as Chair of the Physicians Professional Advisory Committee from 2011 to 2014. He also served as an investigative staffer for the House Energy and Commerce Committee for several years and as Chief of Staff for the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences.

RADM Jung completed his Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy and his Doctor of Medicine degree at the University of Maryland. He earned his Masters in Political Management from George Washington University and his Masters in Public Health from The Johns Hopkins University. He completed residencies in internal medicine at Case Western Reserve University and preventive medicine at Emory University. RADM Jung is a Fellow of the American College of Preventive Medicine.
