Master Chief Sean Edwards assumed the duties of the Command Master Chief for Joint Interagency Task Force (JIATF) South, Key West, Florida, June 30, 2017. As the Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Director and staff of JIATF South, he advises on workforce policies, is the senior enlisted mentor, and acts as the sounding board for select administrative actions and initiatives relative to the day to day operations with the joint command structure.
Prior to this assignment Master Chief Edwards served as the Command Master Chief for Coast Guard Recruiting Command at Washington, D.C. Other assignments include Air Station Cape Cod, MA, Aviation Logistics Center, Elizabeth City, NC, Air Station Barbers Point, HI, Aviation Technical Training Center, Elizabeth City, NC, C-130J Aircraft Project Office, Elizabeth City, NC, Air Station Sacramento, CA, Air Station Kodiak, AK, and USCGC BASSWOOD, Guam.
Master Chief Edwards is a proud graduate of the Coast Guard Chief Petty Officers Academy class 160, the Coast Guard Senior Enlisted Leadership Course class 43, U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy class 63 and the Keystone 17-1. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice, in addition to a Master of Arts Degree in Leadership Studies and a Master of Arts Degree in Management.
Master Chief Edwards' personal awards include three Coast Guard Commendation Medals (with Operation Distinguishing Device), two Coast Guard Achievement Medals, and three Commandant's Letter of Commendations. He was also the recipient of the 2011 MCPO Angela M. McShan Inspirational Leadership Award.
