Command Master Chief Francis E. Gorman assumed the duties of Reserve Gold Badge Command Master Chief for the Director of Logistics, Norfolk, VA on October 1, 2017.

A native of Manhattan, NY, CMC Gorman enlisted in the Coast Guard Reserve on March 26, 1990 and was assigned to Reserve Unit 2, Captain of the Port New York; Activities New York; and Sector New York. On July 13, 2009, he reported aboard Sector Delaware Bay and assumed the duties of Reserve CMC. He returned to Sector New York as the Reserve Silver Badge CMC on August 19, 2013.

CMC Gorman’s military awards include: five CG Commendation Medals, the 9-11 Medal, two CG Achievement Medals, Commandant’s Letter of Commendation, CG Good Conduct Medal, seven CG Reserve Good Conduct Medals, two National Defense Medals, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the Armed Forces Reserve Medal with silver hourglass, “M” device & numeral 4, the Marine Safety Insignia, and several unit and team commendations.

Recalled to active duty on September 11, 2001, and again in 2003 and 2006, he has served a total of 51 months on active duty during three activations in support of the Global War on Terrorism. CMC Gorman was also recalled for two months active duty for the Coast Guard response to the Deepwater Horizon Disaster to the Gulf Coast, where he served as the CMC for ICP Mobile, Alabama..

CMC Gorman is a graduate from Fordham University and has received a Master of Homeland Security Degree from Monmouth University. He is also a graduate of the Command Master Chief Academy, the FBI and NJ TRANSIT Police Citizens Academies, and the Reserve Component National Security Course at the National Defense University.

CMC Gorman is married to the former Sharon Glynn of Allenhurst, NJ.
