Ms. Engleman Conners' government service includes serving as the Chairman and Member of the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), as Administrator of the Research and Special Programs Administration at the U.S. Department of Transportation, as the Deputy Bureau Chief of Enforcement at the Federal Communications Commission, and as Director of External Relations for the NASA Johnson Space Center (JSC).
Ms. Engleman Conners also served as a public affairs officer (PAO) in the US Navy Reserves (1999-2008) for the Chief of Naval Information (CHINFO) at the Pentagon.
In the private sector, Ms. Engleman Conners was President and CEO of Electricore, Inc. a research consortium for advanced technology R & D for hybrid electric drive and alternative energy; CEO of the Indiana Realtors Association, a 20,000 member association; Director of Corporate and Government Affairs for Direct Relief International; and Governmental Affairs Executive and Public Affairs Manager for GTE North, Inc. (now Verizon). She is an active community volunteer and has served on numerous boards of directors for community organizations.
Ms. Engleman Conners was awarded the Secretary of Transportation's 9-11 Medal and the U.S. Coast Guard medal for public service. She received Aviation Week's Safety Laurel, the National Business Traveler's Founders Award and the Harrison Award for Public Service for her work as Chairman of the NTSB and the NASA JSC Director's Commendation for her accomplishments as director of the JSC external relations.
Ms. Engleman Conners has a law degree (Juris Doctorate) from Indiana University, a master of public administration from Harvard University (MPA) and her undergraduate degree (BA) in English and Communication Media from Indiana University. She is a member of the Indiana Bar and received accreditation (APR) from the Public Relations Society of America (APR).
