MCPO-CGR Chief Timothy A. Beard

Master Chief Petty Officer of the Coast Guard Reserve Timothy A. Beard assumed the duties of the 8th Master Chief Petty Officer of the Coast Guard Reserve on May 19, 2022.  MCPO-CGR Beard is the senior enlisted member of the Coast Guard Reserve and the principal advisor to the Commandant on all enlisted personnel matters.

MCPO-CGR Beard is a native of Lawrenceburg, IN.  He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1984.  While in the US Army, Master Chief Beard was assigned to the 133 Ordnance Detachment; Echo Company, 703rd Support Battalion, 3rd Infantry Division and the Ordnance Missile and Munitions Center and School.  MCPO-CGR Beard enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve in 1998. His previous assignments include Reserve Command Master Chief, Pacific Area; Reserve Command Master Chief 13th Coast Guard District; Reserve Command Master Chief 11th Coast Guard District; Reserve Command Master Chief, Port Security 312; Reserve Command Master Chief Sector Columbia River; Reserve Command Senior Chief, Group Astoria; Port Security 313.

MCPO-CGR Beard’s awards include a Meritorious Service Medal, Coast Guard Commendation Medal (fourth award), Coast Guard Achievement Medal, Commandant’s Letter of Commendation (second award), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal (third award), Army Good Conduct Medal (third award), Coast Guard Reserve Good Conduct Medal (6th Award), Military Outstanding Volunteer Medal, and Coast Guard Expert Rifle Medal.  He has earned a Port Security Unit Insignia, and a Command Master Chief (Gold Badge) insignia.

MCPO-CGR Beard is a graduate of Reserve Class 19 of the Coast Guard Chief Petty Officer’s Academy and National Defense University Keystone Joint Command Senior Enlisted Leader Course, Class 22-2, and other service-related schools. MCPO-CGR Beard holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from American Military University in Criminal Justice.
