Master Chief Corey Sidlo

U.S. Coast Guard

Master Chief Corey Sidlo assumed the duties as Command Master Chief for the 17th Coast Guard District in June 2019.  His primary responsibility is to assist and advise Rear Admiral Matthew Bell, Commander of the Seventeenth Coast Guard District, on the impact of existing or proposed policy changes and potential situations pertinent to the morale and general well-being of all Coast Guard members and their families in Alaska.

Headquartered in Juneau Alaska, the Coast Guard’s forces in the 17th District total more than 2,500 active duty, reserve, civilian and auxiliary personnel, who employ 15 cutters, 52 boats, and 17 aircraft across an area of responsibility that includes the North Pacific Ocean, Arctic Ocean and Bering Sea. The Coast Guard’s 17th District serves and safeguards the public, protects the environment and its resources, and defends the Nation’s interests in the Alaskan maritime region.

Originally from Astoria, Oregon, Master Chief Sidlo enlisted in the United States Coast Guard in June 1998. He is married to former Sharlyne Reeser, of the Philippines, and has two boys, Milo and Kirby.  His previous assignments include Command Master Chief Base Charleston, South Carolina; Command Senior Chief Maritime Force Protection Unit Kings Bay, Georgia; Assistant School Chief, Storekeeper “A” School, Training Center Petaluma, California; AVDET Supervisor, Aviation Detachment Guantanamo Bay, Cuba; Storekeeper duty, CGC ALERT, Astoria, Oregon; Storekeeper duty, Naval Engineering Support Unit Honolulu, Hawaii; Storekeeper duty, Aviation Detachment Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and Seaman, CGC LAUREL, Mayport, Florida. 

Master Chief Sidlo is a distinguished graduate of Coast Guard Basic Training where he was presented the “Best Shipmate” award at graduation.  He is a graduate of various service schools including the Coast Guard Senior Enlisted Leadership Course, the Chief Petty Officer Academy, and the Navy Leading Petty Officer Leadership Course.  Dedicated to the health and well-being of his shipmates, he is a certified Command Financial Specialist, trained in Critical Incident Stress Management, and Applied Suicide Intervention Skills, and completed the Navy’s Chief Petty Officer Indoctrination program serving onboard Naval Station Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.   

Master Chief Sidlo’s personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, a Joint Service Commendation Medal, two Coast Guard Commendation Medals, four Coast Guard Achievement Medals, and three Commandant’s Letters of Commendation.  His other awards include six Coast Guard Good Conduct Medals, the Coast Guard Sea Service Ribbon and various unit awards.
