Suicide is a public health problem that affects all of us, our units, families, the enterprise, and country. There is no single cause and it is often misunderstood. Suicide prevention requires an understanding of the biological, psychological, environmental, and social influences that lead to feelings of hopelessness. It is important to communicate it objectively. One life lost to suicide, is one too many. We must actively work to support and protect our shipmates in a crisis.
