Marathon Recreation Cottages
Location: USCG Station Marathon, FL. Located 111 miles southwest of Miami and 48 miles northeast of Key West, FL.
Season of Operation: Year round.
Description: Situated on Vaca Key in the heart of the Florida Keys. Topography is similar to that of islands in the eastern Caribbean. There are beaches on both the Atlantic Ocean and Gulf of Mexico sides of the Key.
Facilities: 4 available cottages, 4 recreational boats, 4 R.V. pads, and a basketball court. No personal boats or watercraft allowed on, or launched from, the Station.
Activities: Boating, bicycling, hiking, swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving, and fishing (license may be required).
Recreation Equipment Available: 4 outboard boats, bicycles, fishing gear, picnic tables, grills, and sea kayaks. Bait and tackle available on base.
General Information: Cottages are available with 1-bedroom, 2-single sofa beds and a rollaway bed. Each cottage sleeps 5 adults. All cottages are completely furnished including air conditioning and cable TV. Each has a refrigerator, electric range, microwave oven, coffee maker, toaster, dishes, cooking utensils, stainless steel service, and pots and pans. Linen, blankets, and towels are provided. Extra towels are recommended. 4 R.V. pads, each with a concrete patio, picnic table, grill, and standard hook-ups for electric (20, 30, & 50 Amps), water and sewage.
Reservations: Reservations are required, with full payment accepted from 6 months to no less than 8 weeks in advance of date requested. RV reservations are accepted with full payment up to 1 year in advance. Applications for RV pads may be obtained by telephone at (305) 535-4565, or via email from the Marathon Lodge Host. Driving Instructions: From Homestead, Florida – US 1 south to Mile Marker 48 (small green mile marker signs on roadside) in Marathon, FL. Enter base on right side of highway and park by flagpole. Lodge Host's office is facing flagpole circle on ground floor.
