Lieutenant Commander Nell Ero

Lieutenant Commander Nell Ero is from Coos Bay, Oregon. In 1996, she earned a commission from the Coast Guard Academy along with a Bachelor's Degree in Government. She holds a Master of Science degree in counseling and leader development from Long Island University/West Point, and a Master of International Public Policy degree from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies.

Lieutenant Commander Ero's previous afloat assignments include serving as Commanding Officer of USCGC METOMPKIN and USCGC KODIAK ISLAND in Key West, Florida (2005-2007), Executive Officer of USCGC WASHINGTON (1998-2000), and Assistant Navigator and Deck Watch Officer in USCGC JARVIS, both homeported in Honolulu, Hawaii (1996-1998).

Her assignments ashore include Command Duty Officer at the PACAREA Command Center in Alameda, California (2000-2002), Coast Guard Academy Company Officer (2003-2005), and the Coast Guard’s Office of International Affairs (2008-2011).
