A native of Long Island, New York, Lieutenant Commander Timothy Cronin graduated from the United States Coast Guard Academy with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Government and received his commission in May 1996.
Lieutenant Commander Cronin reported to duty as Executive Officer of USCGC VIGILANT (WMEC-617) in May 2010. His most recent assignment was in the Office of Performance Management and Assessment at Coast Guard Headquarters. His past afloat tours include Commanding Officer USCGC CUSHING (WPB-1321) home ported in San Juan, Puerto, Operations Officer USCGC RESOLUTE (WMEC-620), home ported in St. Petersburg, Florida, and Deck Watch Officer and Assistant Navigator aboard USCGC MELLON (WHEC-717) home ported in Seattle, Washington. Lieutenant Commander Cronin also served as Senior Duty Officer in the White House Situation Room under President George W. Bush and Military Aide to the Coast Guard’s Chief of Staff.
Lieutenant Commander Cronin received a Masters in Public Administration from George Washington University in December 2007. His personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Coast Guard Meritorious Service Medal, two Coast Guard Commendation Medals, the Coast Guard Achievement Medal, and the Commandant’s Letter of Commendation Ribbon Bar in addition to various unit awards.
