


Station Frankfort
Coast Guard Station Frankfort is sited between the majestic shores of Lake Michigan and the serene waters of Betsie Bay. In several forms and in differing locations, the Coast Guard has been a presence in Frankfort since 1887. The current Station was constructed in 2004 and is manned by 15 active duty personnel and 4 Reserve Personnel. The summertime missions include Search and Rescue (SAR) and Law Enforcement/Recreational Boating Safety, as well as Ice Rescue capabilities during the winter months. Station personnel operate a 30’ UTM Zodiac (non-standard) rescue boat and utilize a 14’ Skiff for winter Ice Rescue Operations. The Station averages 40 SAR cases per year.
