On January 12th, 2010, a devastating earthquake rocked Port au Prince, Haiti. OAK deployed to Haiti the following day, and played a vital role in the ongoing international relief efforts. Upon arrival, OAK became the first government or military vessel to moor in Port au Prince after the earthquake; the first of many notable relief-oriented accomplishments. See the News and Information page for a collection recognition that OAK has received for its efforts in Haiti.
‘The Shade Tree’ is a monthly publication put out by OAK’s public affairs officer, ENS Jason Radcliffe. The information in this publication is intended to keep crew members and their families entertained and informed of milestones, events, and information about OAK and her crew. See the Shade Tree page for more information.
