Port Access Route Study (PARS)

The Coast Guard is soliciting input on proposed traffic routing measures in the Bering Strait. See PARS Study Bering Strait for details.

The 17th Coast Guard District, Waterways Management Branch is responsible for the following throughout Alaska:

A.) Over 1500 Coast Guard maintained short-range marine Aids to Navigation (ATON).
B.) The permitting of over 160 Private Aids to Navigation (PATON).
C.) Eight Coast Guard Aids to Navigation (ATON) Units(six ships, two Aids to Navigation Teams).
D.) The weekly publishing of the Local Notice to Mariners (LNM).
E.) Conducting Waterways Analysis and Management System (WAMS) studies of waterways throughout the district.
