Our Missions

A Truly Multi-Mission Platform

The US Coast Guard is a multi mission service. We wear many hats in our service to the Nation under the Department of Homeland Security. The smallest of the five armed services, we still fulfill many missions. WALNUT is no exception in this. We play an active role in all 5 of the Coast Guard's major missions.

Maritime Safety: Search and Rescue and Recreational Boating Safety
Maritime Mobility: Aids to Navigation
Maritime Security: Drug Interdiction, Alien Migrant Interdiction, EEZ and Living Marine Resource, General Maritime Law Enforcement, Law/Treaty Enforcement
National Defense: General Defense, and Homeland Security
Protection of Natural Resources: Marine Pollution Prevention and Response
