Fir is equipped with a controllable pitch propeller, bow and stern thrusters to allow for restricted water maneuverability. A state of the art electronic Machinery Plant Control and Monitoring System and Electronic chart display to aid in more efficient and overall watchstanding. Fir is also equipped with a Dynamic Positioning System which can keep the ship within 10 meters of position in up to 30 knot winds and 8 foot seas.
