  • Desktop application functionality (e.g. Outlook, Word, Excel) will remain the same.
Outlook Web Application (OWA) will be replaced with a new O365 interface accessible through a web browser.
  • Email retention period will be set at a maximum of 7 years for all users by default in order to align with the Federal Records Management Act of 2014 requirements. Certain exceptions will exist for users in the finance, legal, intelligence, and other special use case scenarios. These users will be allowed to justify a longer retention period, some in fact, might be indefinite.
  • Other benefits include:
    • Reduced complexity with PCS account transfers, estimated ~25% decrease in annual tickets
    • Larger mailbox storage, email (100 GB/user)
    • Larger personal folder, My Documents > OneDrive (1 TB/user)
    • External internet connection bandwidth to be increased (~50 times, FY19)
    • Increasing network bandwidth (650+ funded site upgrades)
    • The Offline Storage (PST) for your outlook will be absorbed into an ‘Archived’ mailbox and PST will no longer be used under 365.
