Civil Rights Awards Program

Each year, the Coast Guard participates in national awards ceremonies to recognize military and civilian employees for their accomplishments and contributions to civil rights and Equal Opportunity in underserved communities.

ALCOASTs for each award will be published accordingly with detailed information and instructions on nominating individuals as well as announcing the recipients. Nomination forms for all awards, when available, can be obtained through the point of contact below.

Blacks In Government (BIG) Military Meritorious Service Award

The BIG Military Meritorious Service Award honors all military service members or Department of Defense (DoD) civilian employees, who have supported the DoD/Coast Guard mission and overseas contingency operations or whose attributes best epitomized the qualities and core values of their respective Military Service and/or DoD Component.

Presented by Blacks in Government (BIG).

The Award will be presented at the BIG National Training Institute (NTI), 4-7 August 2025, in New Orleans, LA.

The eligibility criteria, performance period, and nomination procedures is provided in an upcoming ALCOAST for 2025.

Federal Asian Pacific American Council (FAPAC) Civilian Awards

The FAPAC Civilian Award recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to the advancement of Asian American and Pacific Islanders (AAPIs) and to the promotion of diversity and inclusion among the federal government workforce and the AAPI communities.

Presented by Federal Asian Pacific American Council.

The Award will be presented at the FAPAC 41st National Leadership Training Program, May 11 to May 15, 2025 in Virginia Beach, VA. 

The eligibility criteria, performance period, and nomination procedures is provided in an upcoming ALCOAST for 2025.

Federal Asian Pacific American Council (FAPAC) Uniformed Services Award

The FAPAC Uniformed Service Award honors service members who significantly contribute to the advancement of Asian American and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) and the promotion of diversity/equal employment opportunity (EEO) in the federal workforce and AAPI communities.

Presented by Federal Asian Pacific American Council.

The Award will be presented at the FAPAC 41st National Leadership Training Program, May 11 - May 15, 2025 in Virginia Beach, VA.

Federally Employed Women (FEW) Military Meritorious Service Award

The FEW Military Meritorious Service Award recognizes outstanding military service members within the Armed Forces who have distinguished themselves with significant contributions to their service and our nation.

LATINA Style Distinguished Military Service Award

The LATINA Style Distinguished Military Service Awards recognize and celebrate the accomplishments of women in all branches of the military, Department of Defense civilian workforce, and Service Academies who have enhanced the role of Latinas in their organization, DoD, and Academy.

Presented by National LATINA Style, Inc.

The Award will be presented during the 22nd Annual National LATINA Symposium on September 18, 2025, Arlington, VA.

League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) Excellence in Service Award

The LULAC Excellence in Service Award honors personnel who significantly contribute to the advancement of Hispanic Americans and the promotion of diversity/equal employment opportunity in the federal workforce and in the Hispanic community.

Presented by the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC).

National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) Roy Wilkins Renown Service Award

The NAACP Roy Wilkins Renown Service Award recognizes outstanding accomplishments of members of the workforce who support civil rights in the armed services and civilian workforce.

Presented by the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).

Society of American Indian Government Employees (SAIGE) Meritorious Service Award

The SAIGE Meritorious Service Award recognizes members of the workforce who demonstrate support for inclusion and promotion of all Coast Guard personnel to include American Indians and Alaska Natives.

Presented by the Society of American Indian Government Employees (SAIGE).

The Award will be presented June 5, 2025, at the Gila River Wild Horse Pass Resort in Chandler, AZ.
