MU1 Daniel Oczko

Musician 1st Class Daniel Oczko, tuba, is a native of Mount Prospect, Illinois. Prior to joining the U.S. Coast Guard Band in May of 2024, MU1 Oczko studied at the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami. During his time in Miami, MU1 Oczko had served as principal tuba in the Frost Symphony Orchestra and Frost Wind Ensemble. He was also principal tuba in the Eastern Music Festival Young Artists Orchestra. As a soloist, he was named the silver medalist in the Tuba Artist
Division of the 2023 Leonard Falcone International Tuba and Euphonium Festival. His instructors have included Dr. Aaron Tindall, Dr. Robert Carnochan, Gerard Schwarz, and Josh Wirt. Outside of music, MU1 Oczko enjoys weight-lifting, bike riding, and traveling, especially to naturistic areas to explore.
