US Coast Guard Yard
For the past four years, Captain Richard Murphy has served as the Fast Response Cutter (FRC) and 87’ Coastal Patrol Boat Project Manager in the Acquisition Directorate (CG-93). He graduated from the Coast Guard Academy in 1983 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering. Captain Murphy’s prior assignments include Commanding Officer, Civil Engineering Unit Miami; Chief of Facilities Management, Coast Guard Yard, Baltimore, MD; Civil Engineering Resource Program Manager, Civil Engineering Division, Coast Guard Headquarters; Executive Officer and Project Engineer, Civil Engineering Unit Oakland, CA; Maintenance Control Officer, Coast Guard Yard, Baltimore, MD; and Deck Watch officer, USCGC CHILULA (WMEC 153).
Captain Murphy is a 2006 graduate of the National Defense University’s Industrial College of the Armed Forces with a Masters Degree in National Strategic Strategy. He also holds a Master of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois. He is also a Department of Homeland Security Level III certified Program Manager.
Captain Murphy’s personal decorations include two Meritorious Service Medals, three Coast Guard Commendation Medals, a Coast Guard Achievement Medal, and the Legion of Merit.
Captain Murphy is a native of Jackson, New Jersey.
