Base Kodiak, Support Center Kodiak, Integrated Support Command Kodiak and now the alphabet soup of Modernization. The name doesn’t matter and it doesn’t matter if there is one command or ten. The support mission hasn’t changed. Our job is still to provide the Rock Solid Support that our Operational Partners absolutely must have to execute their missions.

ISC Kodiak gained an outstanding reputation for providing Rock Solid support where ever it was needed. I have sailed several places, worked for several different commands and no where have I seen better support nor a willingness to do what needs to be done. The ISC gained that reputation, not for how we were organized, but because of the people and their attitudes to do the job right and to do it to the best of their abilities. As the ISC name is being retired, I want to once again thank each and every one of you for making it such a great unit.

Although our mission hasn’t changed, the ways and places the mission is being executed has changed significantly. The ISC organization was created before 9/11, before Sectors, before the Arctic ice receded and opened up a new oparea, and before blogs, twitter, facebook and workstation 3. Things have changed, the organization needs to change.
