Coast Guard Cutter EAGLE will be open for free public tours on September 6, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Coast Guard Training Center Yorktown located at 1 U.S. Coast Guard Training Center, Yorktown, VA.
Public parking will be available in Parking Lots 2 & 9 which are the closest proximately to the pier. CGC EAGLE will be moored at the end of the pier, approximately 1/3 mile walk on the cement surface pier.
Access to the base and CGC EAGLE will be on a first come first served basis. Visitors are asked to be patient as security will have to restrict access to the base once parking is at capacity and will allow access only as space becomes available.
The walk from the start of the pier to the CGC EAGLE will be 1/3 mile, which is an average 10 minute walk in each direction for a person in good health. Visitors will be escorted in groups by CG personnel along the pier.
It is highly recommended that visitors wear comfortable walking shoes that are appropriate for a variety of surfaces. It is strongly recommended that visitors avoid high heeled shoes.
Portable bathrooms will be provided for public use. Visitors are not permitted in base buildings.
Visitors 16-years and older are required to show a state or federal government issued ID to gain access to the base.
Firearms are not permitted on base even with permit or concealed weapons permit.
No smoking is permitted on base except in designated areas. No smoking at any point on the pier.
Alcohol consumption is strictly prohibited.
Due to base security, visitors will not be permitted beyond the designated parking areas and pier.
Speed limit on all base roads is 15 mph.
