Ms. Sheila Thompson is a Command Staff Assistant at the Maritime Law Enforcement Academy, Charleston, S.C.
Q: How do you see your job as helping the Coast Guard execute its frontline missions?
A: The Coast Guard has given me an opportunity to have a positive impact on the education and training of tomorrow’s law enforcement leaders. In addition, I’ve been able to further my own professional and personal development; for instance, I am currently enrolled in Southern University Illinois’ Work Force Education Program, specializing in Instructional System Design and Human Resources. Also, working with the Coast Guard provides me the opportunity to give back to the organization through participating in humanitarian efforts and working hard in support of our nation's strength. I firmly believe that “to whom much is given much is required in life,” a motto the Coast Guard exemplifies through its devotion to the nation’s welfare.
