Sector San Juan Reserves
The Sector San Juan Reservists are
"citizen sailors" who train to peak readiness in order to mobilize for
maritime homeland security, domestic and expeditionary support to national
defense, and domestic, natural or man-made, disaster response and
recovery.
Regular augmentation of the active duty
cadre at Sector San Juan, on-the-job training and participation in routine
missions permits the Sector San Juan Reservists to gain requisite
experience and develop professionally for mobilization duties. Sector San
Juan Reservists train to meet six critical operational competencies of
boat operations, port security, marine safety, law enforcement,
expeditionary warfare, and contingency planning and response.
Today, there are over 60 commissioned
officers and enlisted members of the Sector San Juan Reserve cadre
actively training for mobilization and augmenting all of the Sector
Departments. Many of these members are currently proudly serving under a
USC Title 10 Presidential Selective Recall providing homeland security in
Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Besides mobilizing in the Sector
San Juan area of responsibility, Sector San Juan Reservists have also
recently mobilized in support of security operations in Guantanamo Bay,
Cuba, hurricane relief and recovery operations throughout the southeast
United States, and the United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti.
Sector San Juan Reservists are always
ready to answer the call and mobilize to meet the needs of the nation in
times of crisis or emergency, and adhere to the highest values of honor,
respect, and devotion to duty.
