WELCOME TO THE

EDUCATION AND CAREER DEVELOPMENT CENTER!!!

The purpose of this site – whether you are on active duty, a Reservist, a civilian Coast Guard employee, or a dependent – is to give you up-to-date information related to the education and training aspects of your personal and professional development.

Drop into the Education & Career Development Center for information about the educational opportunities that are available for you. The Career Development Advisor (CDA) and I will tailor our advice to your interests and desires.  We can discuss higher education, improving your ASVAB scores to attend a specific "A" school, or vocational and certification programs.

Even if you're interested in a career that puts calluses on your hands or dirties your fingernails, today continued advancement is tied to continuing education and training. Lifelong learning not only helps you keep up with changes in your field, it's also a way to set you apart from and above your colleagues.

In the civilian labor force, a wide variety of skills plus leadership and management abilities virtually guarantees you better jobs and better pay. And the way to acquire, maintain, and perfect those skills and abilities is to constantly improve yourself through training and education.

 Helpful Guidance

1. Service email address for the ESO:

d07-esosecsanjuan@uscg.mil

This allows your emails to be answered by the Alternate ESO in my absence.
Please use the address for Testing Appointments, Tuition Assistance Applications, Counseling Appointments, Course Ordering, and General ESO Business.

Please add it to your contacts now!

2. I have set up an ESO Page in HOMEPORT:

Please take a look and Bookmark it. Here you can find a lot of information to help you on your advancements and your educational journey. This can be accessed from home allowing Reservists, Auxiliarists, and Spouses access to educational information.

3. In order for me to serve members better. The ESO’s office now only accepts electronic submission of all forms and supporting documentation in Adobe pdf format. When submitting forms and supporting documentation they must be converted to Adobe pdf and named accordingly:
LastName, FirstInitial, Rate/Rank, WhatItIs.pdf

Examples:
Smith, J, BM3, TA Request.pdf
Smith, J, ENS, Course Costs.pdf
Jones, R, Civilian, Registration Info.pdf Mckee, R, QM1, CGI-1561.pdf

Please contact me by e-mail. Thank you in advance for helping me help you! I look forward to working with you.
