MISSION

Provides legal support for Coast Guard personnel and their families concerning personal civil legal affairs.

ELIGIBILITY FOR ASSISTANCE

Services may be provided to the following individuals and their dependents:

Active duty personnel of all military services (including reservists on active duty or scheduled for deployment).  Retired military personnel of all military services and active duty officers of the commissioned corps of the Public Health Service.  In cases of conflict of interest, the second party contacting the office will be referred to the Ft. Buchanan Legal Assistance Office (see below).

-Servicemembers' Civil Relief Act (SCRA) & Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA)

-Advice on Civil Suits

-Taxes

-Nonsupport and Indebtedness

-Adoptions

-Powers of Attorneys

-Notarizations of Documents

-Immigration

-Family Law

SERVICES NOT PROVIDED

Assistance may not be provided in the following areas:

-Military Administrative Matters, including UCMJ                                                             

-Private income producing matters

-In-court representation
