Hours of Operation

Household Goods (HHG) counseling is by appointment only,  Monday through Friday, 0730 to 1130 and 1230 to 1530.

You must have signed, original PCS/Separation/Retirement orders via your SPO before the household goods process can begin.  During Summer transfer season a six to eight week HHG pickup date can be expected.  Please plan accordingly and monitor your PCS departing worksheet through your chain of command to your SPO for signature.

Bring the original and 6 copies of your orders to your appointment.

Shipping or Storage Household Goods

Who is this for:

This information applies to military members and Civil Service employees in the Hampton Roads Area that are in receipt of the following orders:

*  Permanent Change of Station (PCS)
*  Retirement
*  Separation
*  Local Moves

Purpose: This describes how to apply to the Transportation Office in order to ship or store Household Goods (HHG).
Process for:

This is our process for shipping or storing HHGs.

1.  Please call the Transportation Office to schedule an appointment for HHG Counseling or you may send an e-mail to Mae Turner or one of the Assistants listed above.

2.  If or when attending counseling, please bring a copy of your official signed orders or you may send an e-mail to Mae Turner or the Assistant listed above.

3.  The Transportation Office will complete the HHGs package and mail it to you or have the member pick up all completed applications.

Member should:

1.  Make one (1) copy of each of the following: (Some forms may have two (2) pages)
PSSU Portsmouth Form HHG-001 (1299 Worksheet)
JFTR Weight Allowances
PSSU Portsmouth Form HHG-002 (Personal Property Counseling Checklist)
PSSU Portsmouth Form HHG-003 (Authorization Letter)

2.  Read and sign Form HHG-001/HHG-002

3.  Once completed attach a copy of orders or Retirement orders and send it to the Transportation Office.  Note:  If applicable, attach a copy of motorcycle registration, title or lien holder for release.

4.  You may mail, fax or scan and e-mail your completed package to HHG Office, Personnel Support Department, Base Portsmouth within 45 to 60 days prior to your pack out date. 

5.  HHG fax number is 757-686-4066.

6.  Member must sign all documents including the orders.

Results and Follow-up: You should receive a phone call from your scheduled moving company within days prior to your scheduled pack dates.  If you are not contacted, call or send an e-mail to the numbers or e-mail below for guidance.
